10/22 trigger job

I'm thinking about doing a trigger job on my 10/22 I have seen people on utube polishing the trigger assembly and claim they can get it down to 3lbs any suggestions or comments gonna try this if not happy with results I will get a new trigger

Polishing is simple and easy to do. One of the big things to get the trigger pull down to 3 lbs. is to replace or trim the trigger spring to where you like it. It's very stiff right from the factory.

I have a 96/22 and sent the trigger to TT Shooter for a trigger job. Now it's much better. They say that he can make a 10/22 trigger good. He's a sponsor on Rim Fire Central. He does away with the spring behind the trigger and uses one inside the housing.

I can attest to TT Shooter's re-work as he's done a few for me - all outstanding. His reworks feel nicer than the full VQ TG2000 that's here. For the DIY stuff, a bit of polishing and stoning is a possibility but remember, mess those angles even a little bit and you own all those useless parts. Good chance just a simple hammer replacement would suit your needs but if you want to go the next step in about the best DIY kit going, the Kidd kit is it! Absolutely awesome!

I down loaded some of the instructions off of rim fire central on how to do this and realized that to do it right the first time was going to take at least 8 hours... a lot easier and cheaper to just buy a replacement or have someone who does it for a living do it.

And you didn't even include the safety factor. Now just doing a polish job on the other hand. If a person can take a trigger assy. apart and put it together again, well that's the easy part. Just sayin'.

I've done 3 myself. Go to Rimfire Central and search for it. It is fairly easy to do. Most of us have more time than money plus you get satisfaction from doing it yourself. You can spend the money on some kind of sight for the rifle. If you mess up something Ruger parts are cheap. Just honing the hammer sear makes a big difference. Don't forget to modify the bolt release.

If you don't want to, or have the time to invest on doing this yourself, Clark Custom Guns (http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/) does a great job on your trigger group, or you can buy a complete one from them in the metal housing.

I ahve 2 and am really happy, they make Steel Challenge 10/22's and know that they are doing. Crisp, creep free pull in the 2.5# range on mine, averaged using a Lyman digital trigger gauge.
