Hi,

I need a scope for my 10 22 rifle, and wonder what power I should look for.

I shoot paper and metal targets between 25 and 50 meters, but hope to extend the range out to 75 meters soon.

I'm not looking for best of the best, but want something suitable to accurately shoot at these ranges, and would also like to retain as much field of view as I can to help me engage multipal targets. What sort of power telescope should I get, and how much should I spend? Is there any particular makes I should look out for?

Thanks in advance for the advise,

Paul

For your intended use, a 2-7 X 33 Leupold VX-1 scope would be ideal.

Decent optics, won't break the bank, a wide field of view at 2X, and good to 100 meters or more at 7X. The stock on the 10/22 is not very friendly to a high-mounted scope, and the 33mm objective will allow you to keep it mounted fairly low.

Best .22 scope for the dollar IMHO is the Simmons 22MAG 3x-9x 32AO. Or, if you want to spend a few more dollars, Mueller makes something similar that's supposedly even better.

Thanks for the advise, I'll look into scopes with these features.

Cheers
