Nice find! Ruger produced just shy of 15,000 completed guns and/or serialized frame before they quit shipping. They then "scrapped" around 5000 of them. Yours was probably produced in early 1983. The serial number guide on the Ruger site is kinda off. I will say that your serial number is "not found" on the Ruger serial number look up. Not unusual as I have several that come up that way. Stay with 180 grain and heavier bullets on top of slow burning powders. My go to is 4227. Top strap cutting will occur, but will abate after about a 1000 rounds. Enjoy!
 
4227 is my powder of choice for all of my magnum load’s except 327. I really like AA9 in it. Have a couple of molds on the way. Starline needs to do a run of brass😎
 
Greetings from Alpine, Arizona. Are you still looking for factory 357 Max brass or cartridges? I go some out of a family estate that have been around awhile. Would you still want them? If so I could pull them out and send you a picture. If your in AZ I could get you the loaded cartridges also. I would like LC rifle cartridge cases small or large if you have them. Love to get them to someone who needs and wants them.

I HAVE 153 PIECES OF 357 MAX BRASS AND ONE FACTORY BOX. MY POST OFFICE SAY'S I CAN'T SHIP THE CARTRIDGES. ONLY BRASS.
I WILL PULL THE BULLETS FOR YOU BEFORE I SHIP THEM TO YOU. They

Nickel's make dimes, dimes make dollars. Trying to save up for a Atlas Bipod and if the Fates smile on me a Altus Carbon Fiber tripod instead.
I'll be ready when a used one turns up. I have a Ram hunt in my future.

UNTIL the gun locked up solid.
I never shoot maximum loads in handloads !
I had to disassemble it to remove the barrel and fired empty.

The frame went back to T-C and I got a nice letter from them stating sorry, they could not repair the old style frame and would I accept one of the then new G style frames as a free replacement ? Heck YEAH I would and did.
I miss T-C and their old style way of doing business.
I did sell that barrel though.

It may be old news but I read recently that S&W sold T/C to Greg Ritz who intends to revive T/C.

Possibly a case of temporary insanity on your part. Never had one, sure wish I did. I did that too with a .327 Fed. Mag. Based on the availability and price of ammo was the justification I used. In retrospect, all I did was get a big case of sellers remorse. If you wanted it to begin with, hold onto it is my current philosophy. Just buy the necessary loading components.

I saw your post about wanting Max numbers. I have 2 a 10.5 600-08742 and a 7.5 600-07683
 
I have a 7.5" Ruger .357 Maximum Blackhawk that I bought new. I added a Bisley gripframe. I have not shot it for years. I used to hunt varmints with it. I used CCI small rifle magnum primers and WW-296 powder. I used Speer's 146 grain JHP (now discontinued) loaded to 1930 fps on squirrels and jackrabbits. For long range plinking I used Speer's 192 grain cast lead gas-check bullet loaded to 1720 fps.
Both loads were very accurate. There is minor flame cutting on the top strap. It does not bother me.
