Carried my 2.25" in vertical shoulder rig for years up in New Mexico mountains. Kinda heavy but not too heavy. Put on a set of Pachmayr grips to keep from rubbing my knuckle on the trigger guard. Good little pistol.

I will say that there is only one issue I have ever seen with the shorter-barreled SP101s, and it holds true with all 38/357s once they get below a certain weight: certain loads will experience bullets jumping crimp. That means that the recoil is quick enough to actually result in bullets being pulled partway from their cases, sometimes enough to bind up the firearm. Most often I have seen it with "Treasury loads" which are 38 +Ps with a 158 grain SWCHP, usually swaged lead, so very soft. I have however seen it with heavy jacketed bullets a couple times. I likely wouldn't go over 140 grains with 38 +P or 357 in a 2.25", but that leaves a lot of really good choices in ammo.
