I was just admiring a new Ruger GSR and can't help but notice how similar it is to the old Enfield No. 5 Mk 1 "jungle carbine".
Of course the GSR is much more modern in design and construction with its forward rail mount, but both are about the same length, ten shot magazines, peep sights...
I was just over in the Middle East and I saw the infamous picture of Sadam Hussien firing a bolt action, full length wood stocked, rifle. It almost looks like an early Ruger M77 RSI. Has anyone ever figured out what kind of rifle it was? Maybe it was a Mauser?
I bought my 7x57 RSI last weekend. It shoots about like my 77 T/S. It only shoots 175 gr bullets with any accuracy. My trigger seems awfully heavy compared to my 7mm-08 RSI. Both have the LC-6 trigger, but the Mk II version has a 4.5 lb trigger out of the box, the newer Hawkeye RSI has a 7.2 lb...
I have three Ruger 7x57 rifles, a tang M77, a 1A and a new 77 RSI.
They all have the 1 in 8.75 barrel twist and shoot 175 gr bullets fine. Never been able to get lighter bullets to shoot well.
Favourite load is 175 gr Seirra SPBT and H414 for a chrono speed of 2400 fps.
This load shoots 1" at...
Took my lovely girlfriend to my favorite gun shop and the #1A in 303 Brit was still there....I was showing her what a beautiful rifle it was and how unique it is to be chambered in 303 British.
My girlfriend promptly bought! It was $939, but she got it for $835 after some winking and smiling at...
Today I saw a real live Ruger #1A in 303 British, God save the Queen.
It had wonderful timber on it.
It was at Larry's Gun Shop in Huntsville AL. Price was $959.00
I would have bought, but I am tapped out already having bought a #1 Boddington Special in 7x57.
Also saw one in 35 Whelen, 300...
Last year I shelled out $1200 for C/B special #1A in 7x57, lovely rifle, but haven't shot it yet. I called Ruger and asked why the 1A in 7x57 is no longer listed on their web page catalog. The nice lady told me the C/B specials in 7x57 were the last 1As in 7x57 to be made. Only the 1A...
Just bought a 1A leopard in 7x57 (made 2009). Trigger was perfect at 4.2 lbs. My other 1A in 30-06 (made 2008) has a spongy trigger at 5.8 lbs.
Fit and finish seems about the same between the same.
Looking forward to taking them hunting.
Saw an earlier post about may be Ruger chambering the...
