    Just bought one a few hundred #'s away from that one. Better condition ( 95% ish ) with box, tool etc. $400. Its a niche gun.My other two mid 90's NIB fixed sight 7 1/2" SS guns were $725 each.

    ROA loads

    I run 42 grains of lightly settled FFFG triple 7 behind a 255 grain Hornady .454" bullet #12458 using a classicballistx cylinder and it runs out the barrel 1230 +/- fps. That is 857 ft/lbs and is well into the range of pedestrian 44 magnum energy and is more than enough for bear deterrent.

    Would Ruger want my gun?

    So you have a gun that is broken, or doesnt shoot right. You send it to Ruger and they refuse to return your gun to you. They offer to sell you a gun at a discount? Did they deduct the fair market value of the gun the refused to return to you? Sounds a little like robbery to me.
