They do not gum up the chamber, but the cases do not expand, which allows the powder to coat the front 1/3 of the chamber, chamber throat, and leade. I use Hoppe's and a bronze chamber brush, though Slip Carbon Killer works well too (pricey).

Are you talking about the take up, the actual pull, or the overtravel? The P-95 has a S/A pull of 5.5 lbs +/-. Have you used any grease on the hammer/sear?

You could replace the factory hammer spring with a 19lb spring from Wolff GunSprings. The P95 is a TDA hammer fired pistol, not a striker fired pistol.
