The revolver is in the white as well and needs work (read sat in a wet box for some time)...I do have a new blue period correct barrel, ejector shroud, front sight assy w/screw and a pair of clean original grips. The existing barrel would need to be removed and replaced with the new...

    Ongoing project...

I still have this early model single six. I need to have the barrel removed from the frame (I have a new early model replacement barrel) so I can polish and blue the frame, then I would need the new barrel re-installed. I really don't want to invest in the proper tools for a one time use...the...

    Single Six restoration

John, I'm no smith but I'm restoring an old single six too and the grip frame seems to be some kind of paint as opposed to anodized...anyway, I glass bead blasted mine and painted with Alumihide ll...five coats, using a heat gun between coats and seems to be tough as nails. It has worked for...

    Old style single six

rugerguy, I really appreciate your bringing that to my attention. Check is in the mail...and being a tinkerer as opposed to a real gunsmith, I'll have to find a way to actually change the barrels out...should be a learning experience :)...I did find the front sight blades at Brownell's for 7...

I have aquired an old style single six (3-screw)It has the fixed-dove-tailed type rear sight and the ramp type front sight that is screwed in place...as opposed to a soldered blade. The gun is a mess. spent some time muzzle down in a wet box and when I got it, the cylinders were rusted, the...
