Some will call it blasphemy, but I just traded off my SR1911

Hey, if you traded something that can save your life for something else that can save your life, I think you did just fine.

Understandable. Hope you enjoy the Glock.

    Where Ruger Really Shines?

For me, Ruger revolvers shine because they don't go out of time like S&Ws. I've had S&W models 28, 25, 29, and 686, and they've all developed failure to carry up properly in slow cock. Usually on just one or two chambers admittedly, but that still bothers me. Also saw it on my brother's model...

    Said goodbye to my LCP

I don't believe you're the odd man out. I suspect you represent the vast majority of LCP owners. Dependable, concealable, easy to use. I carry my LCP about 10:1 over my LCR for the same reasons you mention. Every range session with other firearms I pull my LCP from its weak side front pocket...

    Is your LCP Chambered?

Always carried with a Speer 90 grain Gold Dot JHP in the chamber and ready for action. So fast and easy to pull from the pocket it'd be a shame to have to slow down to chamber a round in the heat of the moment, assuming I had both hands available at the time.

Own a .357 SP101 ?....What rounds do you use in it?

In both of my SP101s, a 3" and a 2", (as well as my 4" GP100 and my <2" LCR) I carry .357 mag Remington 125 grain SJHPs, with .357 mag 125 grain Speer Gold Dots in the reload speed loaders and speed strips. The Gold Dots reload quicker for me than the Remingtons because they don't have the...

    Newbie lcr357 question

I love my .357 LCR, but for carry and concealability. For home defense I like something with more capacity, and less muzzle flash. Plus, a full magnum load, out of that short barrel in a dark room will probably be the equivalent of a flash bang grenade. Great for concealed carry, less than...

    Sig P290RS

I bought one. It's a great little handgun. The DAO is very easy to learn. The fact that it comes with night sights already installed is a plus. I've had zero malfunctions with a variety of FMJ and JHP ammunition. Of the Beretta Nano, the Kahr PM9, and the Sig P290RS, the P290RS is the smallest...

    is 125 grain ok?

It's the Federal 125 grain JHPs and Remington 125 grain SJHPs that had the "lightning bolt" reputations on people, not the JSPs.

    winchester whitebox 230 gr jhp

I was hoping to use it in my SR1911 until I could find enough 230 grain HST to try, but it had a couple of failures to feed in the first few magazine loads. Also had trouble with it in my Kimber Classic. The 230 grain HydraShok has fed reliably in the first 8 magazine loads, 57 rounds, in my...

Ever shot anything you weren't hunting??

I'm starting to suspect this shouldn't be in the "Revolver" subforum.

Ever shot anything you weren't hunting??

22 years ago and I still feel bad about this. Novice hunter (me), in a ground blind, 4 senderos, and a .243 Browning A-Bolt, 6:30 AM, waiting for my first shot at a deer or hog. I had elected to put a fixed 6 power Leupold scope on the Browning instead of a variable, and was questioning my...

    Federal 230 grain HydraShok

Well, after putting 50 CCI Blazer 230 grain FMJs through my SR1911 yesterday morning, I cleaned it up, and then ran 50 (seven mags +1) of the Federal 230 grain HydraShoks through it. One-handed, two-handed, double taps, slow fire, etc. It went great. I'm optimistic. Previously my SR1911 had had...

    New GP100 Owner; Couple Questions

Not always true. Sometimes you can find one of those parts that just launched itself from your trigger group in a box of Captain Crunch sitting open on a counter like I, I mean a friend of mine did. If you're lucky that is.
