Best grips for a Redhawk that work with speed loaders?

That is odd, I routinely use a speedloader with the factory wood grips on my 44 magnum Redhawk Hunter and it clears well without any issue.

New SRH. Is my scope mount cut defective?

I like to use the Ruger ringmounts for optics and have had great success with accuracy and repeatability with the system. I mount mine with both ringmounts square and forward within the slot with the face of the recoil bearing lug flat and flush against the slot bearing surface of the frame...

    Front sight broke off!

In case you guys missed it, that was sarcasm in my two previous posts reference the MIM parts. Ruger actually doesn't make any MIM parts for the SR1911, they only make the frame, slide, barrel and barrel bushing. The rest of the parts, according to the project manager for this pistol, are...

    Front sight broke off!

Oh crap, there goes any good thoughts toward the Ruger. Guess that's how they make this gun so cheaply. Reckon it's built as a throw away bic lighter. What a shame, had hoped it would be made from durable parts to last a while, but I was warned, time to get a good pistol. ;)

...and to shoot quickly one handed.

    Front sight broke off!

Ruger uses investment cast for their parts not MIM, Kimber is the one that uses MIM parts. The front sight on the Ruger is made by Novak not Ruger. I suspect Novak is having production issues and I imagine Ruger is giving them an ear full.

American Holly 1911 grips/ work in progress

Does the American Holly take and hold checkering? I'd like to see it with a double diamond pattern.

Kimber 22 LR Converion Kit (slide/mag) with SR1911 anyone?

There are scores of people reporting that their Kimber units work flawlessly on a box stock SR1911 without issues. Also, just as many report no issues with the Ciener unit, which at one time was making the Kimber unit. What gives that a person here or there reports that the Kimber does not fit...

Who can give my Redhawk a good trigger job?

I also have two Redhawks, one is older with a worked over trigger having a ton of trigger time. My opinion is the trigger on the older Redhawk is perfect. Also have a newer Redhawk that is box stock. This trigger would stack, building up to a slight feel of binding which I did not like. A...

American Holly 1911 grips/ work in progress

If you don't mind answering, why are the medallions placed so high compared to factory placement.

    SR1911 Mags

To be fair, didn't one of the APG pistolsmiths of the year demonstrate and document damage to the feed ramp of alloy framed 1911s caused by one of the follower designs that would tip forward at the last round and gouge the ramp. I believe there is a patent on follower design to prevent the...

    SR1911 Mags

These Checkmate mags appear well made. Could this guy be talking about USGI tapered vs Hybrid vs Parallel Wadcutter feedlip designs, with an opinion that one design was good and the others not-so good? Some are very anal over preference of feed lip. Ruger specs their Checkmate mags with...

    SR1911 broken front sight

No sir, they request you send the pistol along with a magazine for warranty repair to replace the front sight. Windage is adjusted off the front blade and they shoot it on paper to make sure the replacement sight is regulated. When the pistol is returned, it will even be noted that this is...

    Do I need a Redhawk?

The 629 is an excellent revolver. A Redhawk is easy on my eyes and a favorite, but the 629 is more refined in my opinion. If the primary intent was to shoot ammo no heavier than 240 -250 grain bullets at 1200-1400 FPS, and you favor the 629, I'd stick with what you've got. If the primary...
