I think Buffalo Bore also sells stout .40 rounds (used for hunting or bear/ hippo defense). I don't know if I'd make it a habit of shooting those heavy hitters out of a compact SR9!! I think a P944 or similar large-frame pistol would be a better choice.

So how do you ajust the front sights?

That ammo is Federal HST hollow points....really good stuff! You can find ballistic and expansion tests results on youtube....look for the "tnoutdoors9" channel. He test LOTS of ammo, and has some interesting results. Any HST ammo will be top-notch. The 135 gr. doesn't penetrate as well as 165...

Like Big Stu, mine needed a new striker spring last year. Since it was returned to me, I've had zero problems after around 1,000 + rounds. I have complete trust in the firearm now.

Fixer.....I too recently bought a SP2022 in .40, and while I like the pistol just fine, like you I'm so-so about it's "specialness" to me. My Stoeger Cougar in .40 shoots and handles better. I really should have waited and bought a SR40c to keep my 9c company. I may end up selling the Sig and...

Good Lord, you shouldn't have to disassemble and clean out the striker channel after every shooting session! We've purchased "work horse" self-defense pistols, not 100 year old heirloom antiques!

I must have an early run SR9C...bought April 2010. Had numerous FTF and light primer strikes early on with the pistol, and sent it back to Ruger. I never measured the striker spring, but they fixed it and has run without a hiccup since last October. Probably 1,200 rounds of many brands of FMJ...

I like the Speer Lawman 115 FMJ for range & practice, and it's pretty cheap at Gander. I carry w/ Speer GD 115 +p, and both rounds have identical shooting "feel" (recoil and accuracy)

I've had a HUGE number of FTF's with the RWS Swiss-made 124 gr. FMJ ammo I bought at Wal-Mart (the stuff in the orange/black boxes) through my SR9c. 3 of 4 shells failed. Everything else I've tried with no problems. Anyone else had this problem with the RWS brand in their Rugers?

Wally seems to have Federal 180 JHP in .40 all the time...that certainly could be considered SD ammo!

Gander Mtn. has them for $579.....
