    Big, chunky P's...

Got a bit of range time with the P95, with its new fiber optic front sight. I was out there with another shooter, so P95 trigger time was limited to 25 rounds, sometimes we have to take what we can get. It was a bright, overcast day, and the front sight lit up like a bright LED. I had no...

    Alternate P95 sights?

I installed my own: I carefully removed the roll pins, then the sight. I placed the new sight in the slot and gently C-clamped it in place while I drilled the hole for the first pin (I drilled slowly and drilled from both sides). I slid the smooth shank of a 1/16" drill bit in the hole to help...

    Big, chunky P's...

Love the P95! Accurate, with light recoil, and 100% reliable, so far. Mags are very inexpensive, and Mec-Gar 20-rounders turn it into a heckuva home defense pistol. They stick out about an inch, but that's not an issue at home, and 21 rounds of 9mm JHP are a potent thing to have in your hands...

    Wow that is light!

What is the weight of that pistola? With .44 Specials, I bet it would be controllable, accurate, easy-to-carry, and probably even fun to shoot! Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to the target pics! All my best, Dirty Bob

Why the Dislike for Polymer Frames

I like all-steel better for aesthetics, but I often carry a polymer frame autopistol for the light weight, light recoil, and high capacity. I don't dislike plastic: a Ruger P95 carries and shoots very well for me, and I have 100% confidence in it. A good tool is a good tool. Regards, Dirty Bob

an old reliable friend - P95!!!

My only complaint is that it's a bit wide for discrete carry, but not a big problem. I don't have any real trouble carrying it out of sight. For HD, you really won't find a better pistol than a P-series with a Mec-Gar 20-rd mag full of good hollow points. Mine is 100% reliable and quite...

    Ruger Alaskan...which model?

All good points. I would go for a .454 as a heavy-duty .45 Colt snubby. There was one locally for just over $600, but I didn't have the cash at the moment. Arrrghhh! I'm saving my money and keeping my eyes open! Regards, Dirty Bob

    Ruger Alaskan...which model?

I'm hoping to find a bargain on a .454, with the intent of shooting mid-range .45LC most of the time, but with the option of those "Ruger only" .45 Colt loads that should be a hoot from a big-bore "snubby!" Regards, Dirty Bob

    KP95: Great, so far!

Thank you for the replies! I'm very pleased with this pistol. It may not be smallest or the lightest 9mm, but I can shoot it better than I can the tiny subcompacts. And here's a photo with a target. After 4 shots, I didn't want to press my luck, especially at the price of premium ammo...

    KP95: Great, so far!

My new KP95 has been a delight. I have a mere 150 rounds -- a mix of JHP and ball of various brands -- downrange so far, with no jams of any kind. It's accurate, and recoil is mild. I chose the '95 because I wanted a "service" 9mm and don't want a striker-fired pistol. Some advantages of the...

    P90 vs P345.

I've been carrying a P95 without much fuss, and it's far from tiny. I found a good gunbelt and holster made all the difference in the world. I'd go for the P90 without any hesitation. A gun isn't meant to be comfortable, but rather comforting. Regards, Dirty Bob

    p95DAO

Great-looking guns! I must say that the slick-slide Rugers look the best to me, but I prefer a DA/SA trigger on a larger gun. I do, however, like DAO a lot in small revolvers and small autopistols. Thanks for the photo. You're really tempting me. Regards, Dirty Bob

    p95DAO

Why the DAO? The DAO was supposedly popular with police departments, as an "automatic revolver." The manual of arms is also somewhat simplified, as there is no decocking when chambering a round. The other potential benefit is a consistent trigger pull, but I have not had issues with the...

    If only one Ruger

Wow, I have to update my post. I recently gave in and purchased a P95, and I am very, very impressed with this pistol. Mine is stainless: the combination of a polymer frame and mostly stainless metal parts making it fairly low-maintenance and resistant to harsh environments. I've so far run...

    First P95 Range Report

My KP95 is on order with my friendly FFL. Looking forward to joining the club! I went with a new one for the "grippier" frame, and 'cause all I seemed to find around here were blued pistols. By the way, the word for the P95 is not "ugly." I prefer "businesslike." One of the selling points for...
