Well I got to the range to shoot the new SP101 .357 w/3" barrel and Hogue grip.
Started out with .38 special +P Remington which was a bit snappy but felt good to shoot and not to much to handle.
Then we shot .357 124 grain JSP from Remington. This has a bigger kick then the .38 +P. The...
I tell you I really like the SP101 in a longer barrel. I've got the 3". I just looks more proportional and with those wood grips it looks sweet!
Enjoy them.
Thanks for all the input guys. I will try both grips to see which feels best but the stock grip feels a little small in my hands.
I have heard alot of people change the grips due to the recoil with hot .357 rounds and I have never filed .357 before sooooo I will have to try them both.
Thanks jazzman and jimbo. I will post some pics once I get the hogue grip on. Can't wait to fire it. The stock grip feels a little small in my hand so that plus the recoil factor is why I am replacing it.
Just got my Ruger SP101 .357 w/3" barrel today at a gun show for $425. Also picked up a Hogue Monogrip to change out but may also consider another brand grip as well.
Here is a pic.
No luck at the gun show today. I only saw 1 SP101 .357 w/3" barrel but it had CT grips for $649. I don't want the CT grips so I asked if they would sell it without them but they would not.
I was offered a good deal on a Micro Desert Eagle .380 brand new out the door for $431 but I had my...
When I went to Walmart today I was so surprised to see a bunch of .357, .38 SP+P, JHP's etc I bought a few boxes.
The only problem is I don't own a .357 yet. Since tomorrow is the S. Florida gun show I will be on the lookout for a new Ruger SP101 .357 w/3" barrel.
Wish me luck.
