Friday night I acquired the second new rifle I've ever owned in my life. Although I have more than two rifles; most have been traded for or picked up at auction or purchased used from a local gun store. My first rifle was Marlin .22 bolt action that I sold greeting cards to win. This was 65 years ago when we encouraged kids to be goal oriented and gun oriented. My father was my best customer. I think he was still using those cards 20 or more years later.
Rifle number two was the new Ruger/Marlin 1894 .44mag that we have all been awaiting eagerly for. Walked into the store and she was on the shelf for $999. The real deal maker though was the three day only 15% off discount. I had my supportive wife and a low balance credit card so she came home with me. My wife that is; we also walked out of there with the gun in hand. All in all, the deal made the day. Oh, we also bought my wife a .38 special Ladysmith.
