Seeing as this a limited edition, does anyone think it will have value in the future as a collectible? I bought one and am debating on whether to make a safe queen out of it or shoot the pizz out of it.

I figure in about 150 years it should appreciate a fair amount, problem is, I'll most likely be dead by
then and won't much care.
Screw it, I'm shooting mine.
Just ordered a die set, now have to decide on somebody's 250 grain lead bullets to play with?
If I had a "collection" I might feel different, I just buy stuff I like and want to shoot and learn
about.

I have installed the Power Custom hammer on other guns and it makes the trigger pull feel like a custom job. Mine were not the black oxide finish, and did not know that's how they were now. They used to be "in the white". I have one Power hammer that was done by Turnbull, an OM Bisley, and it looks treat. The others I have blued them myself. Being as how they are carbon steel I would think any kind of re-finishing would be an option. That black oxide might be a pain to remove. I'm guessing it is there as an inexpensive option to leaving them unfinished. I know Ron got a lot of complaints for them not having a finish applied.

Thanks Guys.
I'll be making a phone call to Turnbull on Monday to see if they will do a hammer if
I send them one.
Looked further at Power Custom's website and they might have both blued and unfinished avail.
Little confused by their choices, that'll be my second phone call.

I just received the "blued" version of the Power Custom Bisley Hammer/Trigger kit. It looks nice, much better than the stainless anyway. Although Cased Colored would be even nicer. Bobby Tyler in Texas may be another option for that. I agree the Power Custom kit leaves you with a great trigger. It also gives you a half cock, and indexed loading. Here is a pic of the Power Custom blued hammer. I also tried an set of Cary Chapman's Bisley grips I have on the gun. While not a perfect fit, they fit much better than the factory grips.

A little follow up......
I just talked to Turnbull and they will case harden hammers if sent to them.
From my conversation it sounded like they wanted to do that when they did
the frames but Ruger now only has stainless steel hammers.
Asked him about the finish on the frame.....it's some kind of clear
lacquer and you need to be careful about what you clean it with ,
some petroleum based cleaners may strip it off!
Just a "heads up " to take care if you want to keep it
looking pretty.

Did someone at Turnbull actually tell you that?

I don't think that's true and I don't think Turnbull or Ruger wants that rumor spread.
What about Turnbull's other case hardened guns, are they an inferior finish too?

How would a person with a Turnbull gun know if they have a true case hardened finish or
the cheaper "Ruger" finish on their custom gun?

This is not good.

I think he meant that they apply a lacquer over the case colored finish to protect it.

That's not what he's saying on several internet forums where he's posted the same information?

This is a serious swipe at the quality of Turnbull's work and calls into question the finish of Ruger's gun,
and possibly the quality of every gun that Turnbull has ever finished.

I think he owes us more information on his claim.

Who did he talk to and exactly what did they tell him.

Hi guy's sorry I was not clear enough.
Talked to somebody named Denny ( i think that's correct ).
Choirboy has it correct, the lacquer is applied to protect the
finish and can be stripped...damaged..lifted ( pick one )
by some petroleum type of cleaning.
Did NOT mean to imply the CCH was not "real".
BTW: jbntx, your "several" forums is exactly two, will repost on the other
site also later today.

I don't know why this is confusing, it's well known that Turnbull puts a lacquer clearcoat OVER the color case hardened finish.

Well, it looks like you thought wrong.

His post refers (as written) to the case hardening.
He says the "finish" is some kind of clear lacquer.

I just wanted a clarification.
I got it. Case closed.
