It's a shame that their creator retired last year

Just curious were your barrels sleeved to the muzzle device or just the sleeve that most would consider the barrel? I was a little rushed on mine because I was starting a powerplant project that was about to go 7 days 12-16hrs. I've sleeved and tensioned several other platforms with great results.

Just look at the S&W and Taurus copies of your guns. Do they have to pay you royalties??? Gatling had to pay Ager royalties for stealing his rotating breech design after all. I use the muzzle device to tension the barrels on most of my experiments.

I did well with some ideas….which allowed me to retire very early and most days I'm hunting, fishing, or backpacking.

I developed a forcing cone that I call the Spade back in the 80's. It starts out tighter at the opening, opens up and sweeps into the rifling kind of like a spade. It seemed to minimize the blast at the cylinder and made for a more uniform blast at the muzzle as well. We used Betamax cameras to analyze everything we did. Catching that "Moment" where the bullet is 1/4-1/2" from the muzzle tells more than almost anything else.

Did you leave a few protege's behind to continue the Mad Science of handgun performance?
Nope. When I moved west I gave up on the ideas of employees.

I just host handgun hunters competition to keep it going which has grown into the largest gathering of handgun hunters in the USA. Www.handgunhunterscomp.Com

And I host group handgun hunts and such.

Other than that…..to get one of my customs you have to be a personal friend and I have to not be busy hunting, fishing, or shooting.

Maybe I'll see if I can join you sometime. I'm deciding wether to do a 6-8" 460 Rowland or trying a few different barrel/bullet combos for my 7" 357sig. Of course there's always the Dan Wesson but I've been doing that since the 80's. Your work actually inspired me to push the envelope further than I had previously. These off the shelf people have no concept of how cool Mad Science can be!!! What Barrel brands do you use in your builds?

I use various barrel brands. Most of those FR that produced groups in the 1" range at 100 yards used green Mtn.

Single shot guns…..it's all top shelf brands.
