I have a New Model Blackhawk in 30 carbine that has light primer strikes with surplus ammunition.

I have 2 varieties; Korean and Lake City. It does have some light strikes with commercial but nothing like the 90%+ I experience with the surplus. All of the rounds that failed to fire in the Blackhawk went bang in my Quality M1 carbine.

My gunsmith did install a couple different heavier hammer springs all the way up to a 28lb Wolff.

My gunsmith did mention that the primers on my surplus cartridges are seated a couple thousandths deeper... Does it need a firing pin with a touch more reach?

I'm not interested in reloading for another cartridge to "tailor" loads for it. It is also my understanding that this Blackhawk cambering was originally meant to make use of surplus ammunition.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm also not opposed to sending to a competent gunsmith who has experience with this problem.

Thanks in advance!

If heavier mainsprings don't pop the primers, something else is going on

What is the endshake looking like?
