Just picked one up. Low 4 digit s/n with a set of scope rings split vertically. Any particulars about this I should know? Didn't the early guns have Douglas barrels?
Thanks
From Clayton's No1 book: Barrels for the No. 1 rifle have always been made outside the Ruger plant. From the beginning of production until about 1973, barrels were obtained from Douglas. Thereafter and at this time (published 1983) they are supplied under contract by Wilson.
