? on two MKIIs with Volquartsen Trigger / Sear

Combinations, one is a KMK512 and the other is a KMK678GC that I located
recently after a long search. Neither have bad triggers out of the gate but
both can be improved so I took them both to my favorite gunsmith to have
Volquartsen target triggers and sears installed but while that is happening,
I thought I'd ask the forum what if anything significant, I can expect from
them in terms of # of pull, crispness of release, etc. Anyone with experience
who can weigh in will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance......John

I should add that the gunsmith who is doing the install is both very very
highly skilled and also very familiar with the gun models mentioned and
with doing the trigger / sear installations, his work should be in magazines
and on the front covers if he weren't fundamentally quite private, he has
done so much work for me for decades I shudder to imagine the day he
retires and I lose him as a resource, with luck I'll shuffle off this orb
before he does.

Very good triggers. I put them in all my shooter Mark IIs. Makes a huge difference. Far better than stock triggers.

I had read about them but never having used one before now, I thought it

I put them in my 22/45 target about 10 years ago and am very pleased. Pull went from ~4# to 2#. If I ever go to a MKIII or MKIV, I'm sure I would upgrade them as well. But I really don't see a reason to change unless to go to a lightweight.

The VC sear is what will make the difference, if you have the means to measure the pull weight. If you don't have a gauge ask your 'smith what the pull weight now is and to show you. The VC trigger itself does nothing to reduce or improve pull weight. That can be proven by using a pull gauge. What the VC trigger does do, is give you the option of adjusting pre and over-travel involved with trigger pull. It does nothing for creep, that's all involved with hammer to sear engagement.

I put them in my MK ll 512 and my MK ll comp target 678 years ago. All the difference. I know a few more people who have done it and they are quite pleased also.

I put the VQ 'kit' in my Mk IV.... they have online instructions (video if I recall correctly)... Took it to the range, two guys tried it out and immediately went on to order their own. FABULOUS difference.... This one for the MK IV deletes the magazine lock-out feature. Here's the link to the VQ kit for the Mk IV:

I did my own trigger jobs back in the 80's. I can get them down to about two pounds and very clean. Also added my own pre-travel and over travel screws.

I have two frames with VQ internals. While the weight is the same between mine and theirs I can tell the difference, but cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. I think it is just a polish difference. If I only had couple MK's I'd probably do it, but I'd go broke upgrading all mine, so I take one apart every now and then and do the work.
