Super Redhawk barrel length 7.5 vs 9.5

Besides a little more velocity, does the 9.5" barrel have any advantage over the 7.5" ?

If you are going to use a scope and shoot off a sandbag a lot and have a similar rest if hunting, I think you'll always shoot the 9.5" better. If you're going to shoot offhand a lot, I would get the shorter one.

But the of course the smart aleck in me says "get both".

I have had a couple 9.5" 44's, and they were both really accurate.

I have a 7.5" all ready. I no someone that has a 9.5" for sale at a very good price. The 7.5" is a big revolver, I wondered if the extra 2 " of barrel was a benefit or detriment ? thanks

I have had both in 480 and prefered the longer barrel.

Longer is better.



...ok, so I can't imagine shooting anything longer than a 7.5" barrel but to each his own.

That would certainly tame the muzzle flip a wee bit.

Detriment, in my opinion. I have 9.5 and 10.5" revolvers, have had a couple 12" and 14" buntlines. I carry 5.5" and 7.5" revolvers for hunting. The extra length doesn't add much velocity, not enough to matter in terms of the detriment to handling.
