    Need GP100 info+pictures needed

I have a GP that I bought used, polished it myself. Added grips, it shoots better'n I can hold it.

    Pimped out

It's a case of good news, bad news. Good news is that the Ruger shoots rather nicely. The trigger is set to 1.98 lbs, has very little take up, and the fiber optic front sight gathers light nicely. Bad news is that my Parkinson's is still there (Igor is the nickname), and my trifocals don't...

    Pimped out

Can't leave my guns alone, gotta have some mods to make 'em "mine". Latest project is my Mk III 22/45...the pistol has had a Volquartsen trigger for some time. Got the wild idea to pimp it out, so I had it painted in red Cerakote, then the gunsmiths milled the polymer frame flat to accept 1911...

    New .22/45 RP loose barrel!

Went to the range the other day and let one of the staffers fire the .22 for fun. He and I both noticed that the red dot scope felt loose on the receiver. Or perhaps the rail was a bit loose... But no! It was the barrel and receiver that didn't have a tight fit on the frame. Took it home and...

    GP 100 Question

I put in Wolff springs to reduce the trigger pull. The DA weight went from 11 lbs down to 9 lbs, and SA weight went from 5 lbs down to 3.5 lbs. Use caution that you may get light primer strikes...I finally got the right one in there and it's great.

    Security-Six Polishing?

I'm another one that likes Mother's Mag Polish. I started out using a soft rag to polish my GP 100, but my fat finger didn't fit real well into the area under the rear sight. I broke out the Dremel and carefully polished the area only to discover that the Dremel took the efforts I had already...

    Polishing/waxing SS Revolvers?

I started out with Mother's Mag Wheel Polish and a rag. Then went to the Dremel, turned out shinier than I expected. I touch it up on ocassion with Flitz, and wax it with Flitz wax every so often. I've also noticed that when I clean it, the oils and cleaners make the finish a little dull; the...

    Naming your guns

I have applied nicknames to my modest collection of toys: Ruger GP100 .38/.357 : Big Bill (named after Bill Ruger) Ruger 22/45 .22 : Little Bill Kimber Ultra CDP .45 : Cousin Kim 1911 .45 acp : War Horse (gift from WWII vet father in law) S&W...

    Trigger pull problems

I made adjustments that were only a 'bump' on the allen wrench; probably less than a 1/16 of a turn. I found that I needed to work back and forth between the two adjustments to get it working as I liked it. It didn't happen all at once, it took some time.[/quote] You inspired me to go out into...

    Trigger pull problems

"Jeepnik"] Hmm, just a thought, but when did you clean it last? Just saying. That's always a possibility, but part of my ritual for shooting days is the cleaning of the firearms that evening.

    Trigger pull problems

Had good success at the range, I think the real test will come next week when I return to the range for my normal session with my geezer buddies. The pre-travel is still a bit more than I'd like, but I like the trigger poundage and I think it'll be reliable. We'll see how the loctite holds out...

    Trigger pull problems

Had it at the range today and adjusted it a coupla times. Worked fine, then would foul up again. I was using half turns... Plan is to head back to the range, make adjustments using eighth turns, and then apply loctite. The lalst setting I had today worked pretty well.

    Trigger pull problems

Just fer grins I adjusted the trigger pre-travel to a very small amount. Bingo! The thing almost wouldn't fire (dry fire with empty mag!). Backed out the pre-travel to a more reasonable amount, and it was ops normal with light trigger pull. Yay! Hope to get to the range Tues to ops check it...

    Trigger pull problems

Good point. I don't do my own dental work, nor do I fuss about with the internals of firearms... I am gonna be getting with my gun doctor soon, he's not a Ruger specialist, but did install the goods for me. Puzzling situation...
