i am not given to harsh words by nature,that being said it really pissed me off when ruger dropped the s from the Sturm Ruger lable.Bill must be turning over in his grave. may he and mr. Sturm rest in peace.
on a more positive note i think the name Sturm will one day return to its rightful...
dear swampman: don't know about you but hope you are a young man. as for me I'm in my mid sixty's and the shoulder, just is not what it once was.

the ruger no. 3 in 45-70 is the most punishing gun i own or have ever shot. this with 400 grain bullets. and a moderate loads,not near max.
for what its worth. inc. 338 mag 7mm mag 375 h&h 45-70 ruger no.1 and a mariln.
i am fortunate to own a great many hand guns. if i had to choose just. one it would be my new model black hawk 7.5 inch. ser.no. 45-18795 45 colt, with the 45 acp cylinder made around 1975 . this gun shoots so sweet i just love it. i shoot 14 gr. of bluedot over a Lyman 235 gr. with gas check...
to bad you are in love with the Adam smashers. would not try to change your mind. as i don't know what you hunt. but i have been shooting a ruger 77 in 257 Roberts for years and i love it. it has a rich history and brass and bullets are easy to find.

i have 3 of the old ones and love them. you bring the rifle up to your face and don't have to look for anything its all right there. have one on my 375 h&h. it is new to me that it is still being made. have not seen a new one for sale in ages. if new ones are anything like the old one run don't...

thank you to all that responded to my earlier post on barrel lg. question. i just traded my 7.5 in for a 10.5 in. both are nib but the one i got has all papers and mine did not, so hooray. for you ser. no. folks the 7.5 was 600-06771 and the 10.5 is 600-04259.i"m just a sucker for long barrel...
