WTT: Bisley grip frame conversion

I have a Bisley grip frame conversion that is complete with the following:

Grip frame in white, including the grip panel locating pin and the trigger spring anchor pin
Grips including grip screw
Trigger
Hammer

I would trade for a SBH Dragoon grip frame with grips, pins, trigger, and hammer as above. It would have to be a direct part for part trade.

My grip frame has been rough fitted to an Ann. 44 mag frame and is needing finishing. The current finish on the frame is with 150 grit or as cast. Again, it needs to be finished. The grip frame and grips can be seen in this picture.

Please let me know what you might have.

I have a blue dragoon grip frame with pins and grips but not sure about hammer and trigger.. We'd better address the height on the frame ears. There will be SBH grip frames with shorter ears. Let me get to the shop and see what I have and get you a measurement of those ears. I'll be back shortly..

Looks like this one measures about .525 I have hammer, trigger and pins too.. You ready?

Where are measuring.........I get nothing close to that....

The ears on the Bisley measure .800, but I'm not sure that means much in comparison to the Dragoon.

Measured from the base of the frame on the gun to the top of the Bisley ear, i get 1.105 or so.

It's apart now so it's easier to measure.....

I measure from the top of the grips to the top of the ears that extend up each side of the hammer. We discussed this in a thread a few weeks ago. Let me see if I can find the thread.

Look at the ears on this brass grip frame. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=1953905#p1953905 What I am measuring is just the ear from where the grip ends to the top. Bottom line is we need to make sure that we get you a grip frame that you can use. The holes will be in the right place but the top will be to short to match up with your cylinder frame on the short ones. Based on what I see in the brass grip frame thread mine is a short one. I've got another one but it may take me a while to find it.

Ok, I just measured a Dragoon that I have and the measurement you reference is .540. I compared the height of the ears on the gun frames and my Super measures 1.053 and the ears on the Ann measure 1.14. So it appears that to fit this frame, i need a Dragoon with the tall ears that would measure about 0.090 more than the .540 or about 0.630 roughly......or close.

Anyway, I need the tall one. i really appreciate your asking because I didn't realize there was that much difference.

If you have a taller grip frame, we should have a trade.

Huge difference I found when I got a much newer GF to polish for an older BN36...filed A LOT off the ears.

What was the year that Ruger standardized the frame height between the Bisley and the Blackhawk? Before they did this, the Bisley had a slightly taller frame, thus the "ears" had to be taller for a Blackhawk grip frame to match up to a Bisley main frame. Those 50th anv revolvers are of course that taller framed since they are some of the latest ones.

Of course Hutch, it isn't too much work to file the frame to match the grip frame :twisted:

tek, I think it was around 1995....but I thought it was when they raised lugs on the frames.
