SOLD PENDING FUNDS - Extremely rare prototype Texas Longhorn Arms Pale Rider. Grover made four of these Sedgley-style revolvers with the removable/quick-change cylinders. Two were birdsheads like this one, two had Army grip frames. This one is serial number 2 and belonged to Bill Grover. It has stunning factory ivory stocks (the pictures don't show the figure of the ivory nearly as nicely as it shows in person). It is in .44 Special and has been shot (Grover had very few guns he didn't shoot), but is still in extremely nice condition with only very, very minor marks from handling. It comes with both cylinders and one of Grover's prototype leather holsters for the extra cylinder (as shown in one of the pics). Grover called these the Pale Rider after the Clint Eastwood movie because Eastwood's character changed cylinders out in his Remington 1858 revolver during gun fights. He had planned to go into full production with this model, but the company folded before he could.
This gun is shown on page 110 of John Taffin's BOOK OF THE .44.
I will be happy to provide the buyer a letter on my book letterhead detailing the history of the gun.
The price is $6500 plus shipping and is firm. I will be happy to give you a shipping quote via Priority Mail through my FFL dealer or directly via Fedex Priority Overnight, whichever you prefer. I will consider a payment plan. I will also consider trades, but they will have to be weighted enough in my favor to make it worth the time and effort of selling the trade goods. The only reason I am selling this is to raise cash for family needs, which is why I will have to be pretty picky on the trades.
Please email me with any questions. Thank you for looking!
