So I assume this has to be mounted on a MK IV lower? And does it have to be a 22/45 type? Sorry for questions but I don't know the answer!

Yes goes on a MKIV 22/45 lower
Or many will swap out the upper when they have the lower already or want to change color OR simply have a 2nd

It will fit on any Mark IV lower, it doesn't have to be a 22/45.
