Want to sell my 7 1/2 inch max...............i believe gun to be unfired since leaving the factory. There is a slight cyl line and two spots on the cyl that look to me like the blue didn't take..........the box is a little shopworn. 825 shipped to your ffl

I dont know anything about the cartridge- so is the .357 Max is the next step up from .357mag? Will it fire .357 mags and .38? What's its primary purpose, hunting? Are factory loads available or is it reload only? Is brass available?

It is an elongated 357 that has an OAL case length of 1.6. There is still brass floating around you can buy but I am not sure if there is any current manufacturer of loaded rounds. It was developed for sillouette shooting with the idea of shooting heavier bullets at the same velocities as normal 357. Unfortunately, some guys tried using light bullets and extreme velocities and some guns experienced a small amount of gas erosion above the forcing cone that stopped after small cut was made. These guns are the basis for 99% of the Supermag, Maxi or Long conversions you sometimes read about such as the 445, 414, 375, 475 and 500 longs.

@ Coogs & Hammerdown77: I figured it was my turn to remove the temptation of a nice gun, as I have been in the same position (itchy wallet, etc.) MANY times for fine firearms for sale on this forum. So, you are both welcome!! ;) (and BTW: I cannot wait to get this thing!!!)
