I don't have a preference as to side-lock, in-line, pistol, revolver or even the bullet or powder type. So I'm no help.
Depending on your interest, there is a tremendous amount of diverse loading and shooting capabilities available.
This is some of the components list for the stuff I use in my revolver, pistol, in-line or traditional muzzle loaders. Hell, I even cast my own projectiles.
Goex, Pyrodex RS and P, even Blackhorn 209 powders.
#10, #11, Musket percussion caps, 209 primers.
Cast 44cal round balls, 50cal conical bullets, 50cal sabots for use with 44cal or 45cal projectiles.

If you are looking for an inexpensive shooter, I may have what you want. Been sitting in the back of my safe for years. I would have to pull it out and check, but I believe it is a Traditions brand. It is 50 cal. I believe it is a Hawkins style. It is stainless with black composite stock. I took it in trade and keep meaning to shoot it, but have never gotten around to it. Will sell for $185 to your door. Glad to email photos upon request.

I have a T/C Hawken, 45 cal with fixed sights that I haven't fired in probably 15 years. It sits in my son's safe.... I changed the sights shortly after I bought it in 1976, and sighted them in to hit the bottom of a Pepsi can @ 75 yards w/ a 70 gr. load of 2ffg of Pyrodex Pistol. I've killed a lot of tree rats with that rifle. My favorite powder measure is a .444 Marlin brass.
I also have a T/C .440 rb mold, a T/C Maxiball mold and a possibles bag that are just collecting dust.
