WTB Mini-14 stock. WITHDRAWN

NEED HELP!!!!!! I received my 580 Mini-14 to FFL today and this is the condition he found when he opened the box. ANYONE have a replacement stock for sale in wood? I bought this one partly because of the stock .

that was obviously damaged at some time in shipping just look at the box, pressed on the side, no other way the stock should or would get cracked like that ALL THE WAY THROUGH,,,,UNLESS IS WAS USED A BASEBALL BAT AGAINST SOMEONES HARD HEAD??

Have you called Ruger Parts & Service to see if they have any like you are wanting ?

Along with finding a new stock, I would be extremely worried about the overall condition of the rifle. To break a stock like that, what other damage might have happened?

Why did you accept it at your gun store?? Seeing that I would have not accepted it and have the store send it back.

I haven't accepted it yet. FFL messaged me immediately and he still has it. In a fight with selling dealer as we speak. He is denying all responsibility and I cannot file a grievance with GB until 30 days for some ODD reason

I do not think that's a factory configured stock. I do not recall the extra checkering on one like that.
And it appears the gun has had some modifications to it as well.

At best,, you can find A wood stock,, but not one with that checkering. I too would be filing a claim with GB & against the carrier etc.

agree with Ron it took a lot of downward, angled pressure to crack it like that who know how much the barreled receiver can "flex" and NOT stayed "flexed" ( ergo=bent!)

Have a 195 series stock off a new rifle, will that work. Only metal is rear swivel and buttplate.

Are the Mini 14 and Mini 30 stocks the same? I have a wood stock for a 1980's version of the Mini 30.

My FFL is also a gunsmith and he inspected the other components and feels there is no other damage luckily. I'm more pissed that I purchased that particular rifle because of the rare stock and now it is just a pile of fireplace material.

My guess would be liberal UPS driver. Toss it out onto curb with one end on curb and one end in street. Then bail out of truck landing on center of box with both feet. Followed by oops I guess I did it again.
Real shame---that is a great looking stock!

That looks to be a Boyd’s walnut stock. They are not inexpensive. Two that crack is from side ways pressure. There should be metal reinforcement there but it is missing as there are no screws through the side of the stock which holds the reinforcement in place. I can’t imagine Boyd’s would not have included the holes so I may be wrong but that is why that stock cracked that is the weekest part of that stock

Yeah, It is a Boyds stock. I went to their website and priced a new one exactly as this is and it is almost $520... DAMN!

That's majorly F'ed!!! +1 on the UPS driver. I can't imagine the barrel and or the action not being "Bent" even if it's a few thousandths that would make the barrel nearly useless. Of course these things aren't particularly accurate to begin with.

Jeff is are some quicks of the MIni-14 stocks I have here like I said the older NOT the early shallower 180-181 stocks and this one has the blue metal liner liner 4 parts, 2 screws, the mag well support and the liner with the hook tabs for the foreend tip....
no I am not going to mansfield ,and looks like not to the OGCA either......

I have looked there but almost all the sellers cannot tell me if theirs is a 180- model or 580-model. Not taking that chance

What are you looking to get for it? Can you bring it with you to medina on 6/10?

yes, I can bring it to the Medina show and have it with me under the table, never know......... someone on another post today they have one like I pictured but may be stainless?? and wanted $50 for it,,thats a good price......

I'm looking for all metal parts for a Mini-14 wooden stock, obviously except the frame. This will reduce your loss by a few bucks maybe. Ed

Well, here is the finished product. AND, I shot it right away and the Viper red-dot is dead on at 100yds even with all the trauma. I think I am happier with this look than the original.

Nah. Taste changed and I went this way. I still have the folder but am going to leave in closet for now.

It appears to me that there is a flaw in the wood grain of the broken stock that may have contributed to its breaking. I’d send it to Boyds to see if they will do anything under warranty.
