Looking for a hammer strut seat for a BH /SS. Was putting on a new spring and I slipped and the seat is gone somewhere in my garage. If I find one/buy must find a better way to compress the hammer spring. How do you do it. If you have one PM me your info , Thanks

One way to do it.
1. Secure strut end in smooth jaw vise or pad jaws with wood.
2. Push down on spring retainer plate with a pair of square jaw pliers.
3. Remove pin, punch, or paper clip you used to retain the spring, from the strut.
4. Gently release pressure on the pliers.
5. Remove old spring & install new one.
6. Reverse these steps for the install.

Thanks for the info both on where to get the seat (Midway) and using a vise. Was just trying to push down on a bench when the strut turned and goodby seat

Enigma That was great photo Info. :Flying Tiger sending me one and with your info should not be anymore problem. Thanks all again Oh by the way the lighter hammer spring is going on SS7 in 327 Mag. The stock spring that came with the new 327 SS7 is really heavy and is really stiff

The single six/seven/nine/ten small frames all use the same spring as the full size Blackhawk frames, but with the smaller/shorter hammer, there's a lot less leverage.

The shortest/lightest factory mainspring comes on the New Vaquero mid frame (for cowboy shooting). They work well for the small fames. Ruger will send for free; any part under $20 or parts that total less than that.

Would like to thank Flying Tiger, Don House for the hammer strut seat and parts. Definitely one of the good guys. Though he should get some praise and gratitude. John N
