Glad you found one!

Kind of hard to find a .357 midsize frame cylinder in SS however. I've had the best luck with the custom revolver smiths like Bowen, Linebaugh, etc.

Just something to consider: if you're going to shoot your Vaquero as a 44 Spl and 44-40 convertible, or you just want a 44-40 Vaquero, you'll probably want to load .429" bullets in the 44-40 ammo. Otherwise the .427" bullets will just rattle down the 44 Spl .429" bore and accuracy will suffer. Therefore you can just ream a 44 Spl cylinder to 44-40 because it will already have the proper size chamber throats and case mouth chamber dimensions. Of course, this will not work if your reaming the cyl to 44-40 for a .427" barrel, and you'll want to ream a 357 or 41 mag cylinder instead.

But if you ream a 357 cylinder to 44-40, for a .429" barrel, you'll need a custom 44-40 reamer that will cut .429 throats and proper case mouth dimensions in the chamber. Or else .429" bullets loaded in 44-40 cases will not chamber.

Also another 44 spl SS cylinder is easy to obtain and cheaper in the long run by sending your gun to Ruger and have them fit an extra 44 spl cylinder to it. Or if you don’t want a convertible, just ream your 44 Spl cylinder.

I don't think you can ream a 44 special cylinder to 44-40 because the 44 special is larger diameter in the neck area. I do shoot .429-430 bullets in all my other .44-40's. Thanks, Lee

.41 Blackhawk cylinder instead of a 357, would work to 44-40? I don't know.
I have a 44 mag Blackhawk SS cylinder in my 44-40 Vaquero and use .430 in both special and 44-40s.
