That patch is highly desirable to collectors due to the fact that only about 75 of them were made.
It was done when Bill was looking to reduce his insurance expenses and created a fire brigade within the company.
The estimate of $500-$600 is pretty much spot on for one.
I got mine from Kim P. long ago.

I would not have thought a patch would be worth so much either. Holy cow!
And then it’s such a shame, because it’s got to be in mint condition. So it’s never going to be used as intended.

Stuff made to collect never gains value, little insignificant things go through the roof. Fascinating to watch, but I'm glad I don't have that bug.
I'll leave the Ruger boxes patches golf clubs and hand drills for everyone else.

Until yesterday, I have never taken it out of the plastic bag. Received it at the Newport shop about 25 years ago. I worked there for 20 years.

$600 is the figure that popped into my head before reading the first reply. They were around $400 when I got mine, but it was part of a trade where I think I gave a $300 credit for the patch toward a Ross flattop that I was selling.
I would sure be interested in adding this rare patch to my pile of odds and end Ruger stuff if you're interested in selling. I am not able to PM you, as your post count isn't high enough yet.

I never have any luck with collectibles. I could buy a gold bar for 100.00 and wind up having to sell it for 75.00.....

It’s true that many people are not into collecting anything and feel that their money is better spent elsewhere. But the same people may have something else that they will spend money on that others don’t understand either.
As a collector of Ruger stuff and guns, for me it’s not just the fact I can use a Ruger firearm, it’s also the history.
Many of us go to museums or places where we can see things from the past and enjoy seeing such things.
Having an appreciation for the history behind our firearms and the way they began is interesting to me.
By collecting the “stuff “ from the company and preserving it, saves the history.
Many of us often say; “I wish this gun could talk.” Well, by collecting and preserving “stuff “ it tells us the story of the company, the people, and “talks “ to us.
So yes, some of us collectors are willing to pay a lot for patches, boxes, paperwork, samples, prototypes, and many other things that we preserve.
And many of us build displays, and go to gun shows, to share the history and educate others about Ruger firearms and other things about them.
I also understand that some people don’t care about such things when it comes to firearms or stuff. But most people do care about something that is personal or close to their hearts.
Some of us just enjoy Rugers for more than just shooting.

My father collected the boxes and I sold a green wreath mint box several yrs ago $ 2,000 He picked most of them up for free. Still have 5 of them left I will pass them to the kids
All depends on condition, age, rarity, and if it's an original or reproduction... As patches go they made thousands of them at a time or in some cases a couple of hundred. And that there are two guys that just have to have it... In the case of your patch it doesn't look that old, and with a modern computerized sewing machine could be reproduced very easily.. IMHO

While many things can be counterfeited, and often are, the methods used today to make patches has changed enough to where it would be kinda hard.
Plus, in this case, the owner of it got it directly from Ruger and could provide a provenance letter.
And in the case of thousands of them, not in this case.
Read the OP, its condition is like new because of how it was stored.
