Please do explain, I would love to not have to send it overnight, but this was per UPS at the hub and read this in Fedex guidelines for non-FFL's.

You can send it 2nd day air for a lot less with UPS....or have an FFL dealer send it USPS for the least cost. Me, I just remove the cylinder from the gun but keep it in the same package and send it regular UPS. It ain't a handgun any more, just machined parts and that is how I claim it...with the appropriate amount of insurance of course. I really don't care to be screwed with my pants on.

I've since been informed regarding shipping and the various methods as to their legality. To comply fully, I will be sending this as originally stated, next day or via a reasonably priced FFL, assuming they still exist in Cali, lol. Thanks to all for looking out on both sides of the fence. Both are coming from the right place and I certainly appreciate that from a community standpoint!

The cheapest, easiest way would be to put it in a Flat Rate box, insure it, attach the postage (all this can be done on-line at a small discount)then give a worthy dealer a few bucks to drop it off at the Post Office for you complete with the Form 1508.
FWIW, I am an FFL holder and have shipped quite a few firearms. I never insure them unless it is specifically requested and that includes a very expensive Colt SA I just sold.
Prior to obtaining my FFL I shipped FedEx and when I'd inform them there was a firearm in the package, the employees would usually respond with "Hmmph" and that's it.
Overnight shipping IS NOT a federal law, informing the carrier that there's a firearm in the package is.

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.

I have the exact same gun, fluted cyl and all. One of my FAVORITES. Light, compact, accurate, and powerful (can be loaded mild to wild). Would be one the last to go. Back to the top for a great gun!

I couldn't agree more Paul. I have the same gun, minus the flutes. My wife gave it to me for my 50th birthday five years ago, and she paid more than the asking price for this one. I had mine on all day today both on the ground and in the saddle and hardly knew it was there. Someone will get a great deal if they snag this one.
