Winchester ammo at walmart. Is it good?

I got some ammo at walmart today. Winchester PDX1 defender bonded hollowpoints. I figure this is the best stuff Winchester makes?
The 9mm +p has velocity of 1200fps. 40S&W 1,180fps, and the 223 at 2,780fps.

I have never had a problem with Winchester ammo.

I don't know that PDX1 is "the best stuff Winchester makes", but as a rule, Winchester makes good ammo. I guess it depends on how one defines "best"....and whether or not it feeds/functions in your particular gun(s). Maybe it will, maybe it won't. You'll have to try it for yourself to know for sure.

Just stay away from their rimfire ammo. I've had nothing but trouble with it lately. Even the premium stuff had way too many failure to fire and the hollow points have an odd bullet profile that will not run through either of my semis. These guns will normally run anything without a hiccup.

Even the cheap WWB stuff always works for me (9mm and .40). Reliable, reasonably accurate (at least as accurate as I am, at any rate). The WWB 9mm JHP even did pretty well in some short-barrel FBI protocol gel tests that a feller on YouTube did. It's still not my choice for PD, and I hand load for plinking & IDPA, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it if it was what I had access to.

Then you have a "gun problem" not an "ammo problem"... :wink:

I've never had a problem with ANY caliber of WW ammo in any firearm I own. In fact, if I don't handload it myself, it's WW all the way.

Well, then I have two gun problems. Funny thing is, everything else runs through them without problems. If you look at the bullet profile on the Winchester, it has a very broad profile at the nose. Everybody else uses a lot more taper.

That only accounts for the feed problem. Even the premium Winchester I bought last year had a very high percentage of duds. Heavy strikes on the cases. Tried running them through the same, or the other gun I have. Some fired the second time, some didn't.

Heck, even Thunderbolts run without issue through these two weapons.

I'm not the only one to complain about current Winchester rimfire ammo.

shooting the bull/ammoquest on youtube did a review of the 223 PDx1 and they performed excellent. said if he had more hands he would give them 3 thumbs up!

White box pistol and revolver ammo has worked well for me. The "white box" Shotgun target loads are worthless though.
