buddy just came over with a old model 3 screw flatop 7.5 inch 44 mag. Its in great shape only real wear on it is a pea sized spot right on the end of the barrel from holster wear. Beautiful deap bluing.Its the nicest one ive ever handled. Hes interested in selling it and im a bit out of touch with what there going for. Any ideas on what he should get for it.

Is it converted? And a serial number would narrow it down quite a bit.

unconverted and serial no in the 36000 range

If it is in the 36000 range it is a Super Blackhawk and not the early flat top. In that condition probably between five and six hundred dollars maybe a bit more with box and papers.

A Super will have a wide hammer spur and ears around the rear sight to protect it. A true flat top that will letter as having a 71/2" barrel from the factory is worth at least 1200.00 in that condition, much more with box and papers.

I don't have my RENE reference here at work, but my notes say the last 7.5 Flattop made was around s/n 29850. Big difference in price compared to the Super, so need to look at it pretty closely.

From what I have read in the $500-$600, at least down here in the SW.

have the prices gone down on these. I sold one just like it that wasnt in near the condition this ones in for 500 bucks about 6 years ago.
