I'm creeping up on the only post number I can think of that I might want to delete. When I get to post 666 can I delete it and immediately follow up with Post 667?

Naaa. Put one of those lame "+1" posts and follow it with post #667. Or, you can try to fool it and get lost in Groundhogs Day forever

OK here's 665. Those are interesting suggestions but I think I know the answer of how to skip the number completely.

I never saw the importance or lack thereof of the number 666. I went to have a car registered on post years ago and the sticker was number 666. The girl asked if I wanted another number. I told her that one was fine. IT IS A NUMBER. That is all.

I know, I'm a very rational guy. With the exception of that number. I'm glad we got through it without any casualties. Nothing but an index in a database had to be updated. ;). On to more serious subjects.

Hi,

I've managed 50+ years carrying a Social Security number with that combo in it... I understand at one time, Social Security would entertain requests to change the numbers, but quit doing that years ago.

Way back when, we had to sign our clients' tax returns with our SSN instead of the current ID numbers, and some of mine got a bit nervous when they saw those numbers. I just told 'em I had a little bit of the devil in me and not to worry. The ones who laughed are still with me. The humorless ones have gone on, sometimes with a little nudge from my pitchfork!

It ain't a fairy tale! Do your research. In the context of the numbers of our posts, it is just a number. 8)

What fairy tales would those be?

Just to clarify.
You wanted to figure out a way to skip from 665 to 667 because you didn't want to have the number you skipped on your post. It would change as soon as you made post 667.

Yet you make a post with the number in the headline that will be there forever.

My telephone prefix (not area code) has been ''666'' since 1972. When We moved in the telephone company offered me ''630'' if the ''666'' bothered me, but as NixieTube stated, it's only a number and easily remembered.

It's just a number. Nothing more than that. I don't believe in that crap.

This Summer a school bus driver attempted, twice, to run me off the road (I was riding my bike). Longish story, but he got fired for that stunt. The police officer asked me the number of the bus, "666". I thought he was going to loose it. "Well that's appropriate, school bus driver from hell."
