Kinda what I thought. But like you, in a scope,, the only ones I ever saw that withstood heavy recoil, (and still not in the same class as a .454,) were the old T/C Recoil Proof scopes.

I am old and I hunt with my revolvers and encores, so I am particular with what sights/scopes etc I mount on my handguns. On my Ruger Super Redhawks and Super Black 44, 480, 454, I mount either Leupold 2x or a Weaver 2x. I try to keep my killing zone to 50 yards for the 44s and and 75 yards for the 480 and 454. On my Encore 460, I have a Ultra Dot Match Dot that has four illuminated dots that range from 2mm to 8mm with a 30mm tube. On my Encore 7mm-08 and 358 Winchester, I mounted a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x 32mm for longer distances. All work as well, if I do my job. My # 1 recommendation if you desire an illuminated sight would be the Ultra dot over a prism sight because you can use it in wet conditions. Please remember this is my opinion only. Sorry to be so long. Monty
