What Ruger won't do Marlin did!

Saw that Marlin will be operating a custom shop. Saw a few picks from the shot show over on Gunblast .

I just cannot figure out why Smith and Wesson or CZ or Sig all have custom shops and Ruger doesn't. It wouldn't add to the base price of their guns already in stores.

Remington has ALWAYS had a "custom shop".......so it makes sense they would extend that to Marlin Arms now

Ruger could have a #3 action based multi caliber & black powder capable carbine that would be a great seller, simple, strong, accurate.
I bet they would sell a bunch of them

I got tired on waiting for Ruger to set up some type of custom shop. Sending out a barreled action on Monday...Ruger won't be getting any business on this one.

FYI, it will be an M77 MkII International in 260 Rem, with a 20-inch barrel. Already into this for about $1000, figure it will wind-up about $1700. Pics when it's complete.

Next project after that will be No 3 based. Haven't finalized the caliber, but am leaning toward 6.5mm-06.

As i understand, many years ago, Bill Sr. said he was not going to have a custom shop as he did not want to take business from the many custom gunsmiths.

I didn't say one should exclude...I said that I would rather them do as they are doing.

Ask Ruger why they offer no performance center...apparently, they have what they consider to be a legitimate reason. I think that if it were so profitable, they would have a custom shop.

Remington's custom shop is nothing special. They just pull stuff off the line and package it a little differently than their catalogued items. No accurizing, color case hardening, seriously attractive wood, and none of it is made to personal specs. And they get top dollar for it!

I doubt Ruger has the skilled workers any more to do the hand fitting, custom checkering, and bedding that are earmarks of a true custom rifle.

How long have we been talking about better QC?.............All they seem to be concerned about was selling 2 million guns and then fixing them later. I know myself, am not a rock bottom price shopper. I would gladly pay a little extra for gun that had a little hand time put toward it. I am going to do it, or pay to have someone do it.......that someone could be Ruger.

And I don't agree with Wunbe's assessment of the Remington custom shop. While not in the past few years, I have in the past got stuff through the Remington custom shop that certainly was NOT just a repackaged assy line gun.

Just my opinion I think Ruger is so busy with production and always has been a custom
shop would take up resources they probably do not have to spare. Like space!

They need for one probably is not part of their business plan. Bill always wanted
to make guns for the average working man. ps

Everybody says that about the "average" guy...........but the Number 1 was not for the average guy, nor was a Number 3 for that matter. Engraved pistols, ivory grips, Claro Walnut stocks and some other things offered, are not just average guy guns. As I said, in my opinion Ruger has become TOO average. They make what sells and that is black and plastic. While some might say that is the average guy........maybe it is, but seems to me it is more the cheapest guy and all they seem to care about is volume sales to this group

Ruger did have a custom shop a long time ago. They made some beautiful guns. Lee
