What is this plane??

I'm not sure this will post correctly... this was on facebook..... I'm interested to know what this is? is it real? If so this is a pretty amazing little aircraft!!

It is a Homebuilt in the experimental category that is a takeoff of a PA-18 Piper Super Cub and has a 180HP Lycoming engine.
It is owned by John Swan who lives in Anchorage AK

FWIW on the J3 you can see the cylinder heads sticking out of the side of the engine cowling.

That is an amazing piece of flying. The 'flight demonstration team' was also very good. Now to get on with my day after spending a LOT of time watching.

A fellow at the local airport has a home built airplane that's designed for STOL. We frequently have a pretty good onshore breeze. Ihave been impressed by his short take offs. But even more so by some of his landings. I swear it almost looks like he hovers that thing. Pretty impressive
Folks talk about vehicles for evacuating during emergencies, he's got it nailed.

Yep and do very well in their class. Friend of ours has done very good in his class with his Carbon Cub

I know a guy with a cub... I built 2 scabbards for his rifle and shotgun that strapped to the struts so he'd have more room inside....

Yeah. I blew that one and should probably be flogged. I thought Bush Plane and the Beaver was a popular one so I didn't look closer..

I'd imagine that getting it off the ground with a load on a tundra runway is the worst of it.....

I have a lot of respect for the De Havilland beaver.. for their size they are an amazing bush plane... to bad they quite making them so long ago...
