A local museum has this. What is it? Bofors gun mount?

This is an early 20th century apparatus for doing colonoscopy's. Ouch!

I still think it's some kind of anti aircraft gun off some old ship, or could have been mounted on shore some place during WWII for the civil defense, to shoot down those little Jap fighters if they attacked, to small of a gun to fire at ships.

I think it's a shipboard mount for a 5" gun .looking at the four"legs"around the bottom ,that's where the catwalk or deck would have been for the gun crew . I've seen pics of these guns with just an armored shield on the front and their main function was heavy anti aircraft guns on large ships like heavy cruises and battle ships. The reason they had just the armored shield and but an enclosed turret is so the gun chief could have a good view.
I could be wrong , but look at the " clamp" that would secure the barrel ,it's about the right side for the O.D. of a 5" bbl .

Okay, it isn't a mount for the big guns that were there. They were huge and were in disappearing mounts (dropped below the revetment after firing to be reloaded). I have no idea where it came from or how it got there. It is too small for a 5" gun. I thought maybe a 3" 50 caliber but it's too big for that. No one at the museum has a clue.
The mention of some sort of naval antiaircraft gun moved to a shore battery seems plausible. That's why I wondered if it were a Bofors mount.

I recall seeing a similar gun in a park once. It had about a 3'' or 4" bore and relatively light armor over the front and partially on the sides. It had a swivel base that was mounted firmly in concrete.
The plaque attending it explained that it had been on some military ship during, I think, the Spanish-American War.
Was a long time ago, and that's all I can recall about it.

I'm starting to think it could be older than WWII, maybe WWI.
I'm just thinking anti-aircraft because of the spinning turret and hand cranks to turn it, I could be wrong, it does look a bit similar to a Bofors mount gun I saw on line, can't find anything like it doing a search.
