Shot me First batch of reloads. 70 rounds of .45 ACP. All went Bang, all shot perfect in both the P90 and P345. Both Guns seem to like 5.4gr. HP-38 and 200gr LC Boolits. Now I can truelly say I'm hooked untill the skin rots off me bones................................

Well done, Chief! I could have told you that load would work well. I've shot 5.3/WW231 (exactly the same powder as HP-38 ) with 200 SWCs in over a dozen different guns and it's functioned and shot well in ALL of them. Cool thing about that charge is that it also works behind 230 grain RN or JTC bullets, too, and I'm sure your 5.4 will work just as well.

Might I ask about what kind of records you're keeping? That kind of thing interests me also.

With this load, don't bother. If you want to bump it up to "full power," go to 5.7 or 5.8 and be done with it.

For MOST handgun shooting*, you're not worried about finding THE PERFECT load, you're more interested in finding a GOOD load that's inexpensive, safe, and satisfyingly accurate. When you find one, you can load them up by the thousands. :wink:

*There are exceptions, as for hunting, serious competition, etc.

Congrats, It is great Chief that you can run lead boolets in those guns and save a ton of money. I'm sure the re-loading bench will be staying occupied a lot now. :D

Nice going. The first time shooing your own ammo is a real treat. Next thing you know you'll be casting your own bullets and smelting your own lead. Which is nasty and backbreaking but I enjoy it as much or more than shooting.

Fine going! Do you realize that by simply trying a few different loads you will be improving on the performance of factory loads? Just that is worth the try.
