Well after spending the last 6 weeks working 12 hours a day 6 days a week I decided it was time to do a little something for myself. I just ordered a NIB SR1911 off Gunbroker for $635 of course I still have to pay shipping and a small transfer fee. I couldn't find any locally & this was the best deal I could find online. Hope I did okay. Now I have to wait for it to come in.

Mike J, I think you well deserved your just reward. You know what they say about all work and no play. I reward myself all the time...for absolutely no reason

Enjoy your SR1911

Thanks Cholo, Now if I can just survive the wait. This is the first time I have bought anything off Gunbroker so even though I know a lot of folks use it all the time I am a little nervous. I guess living in Georgia I am just used to picking out the gun paying & leaving so this is a new experience for me. :D This might be a good time for me to start looking around for a leather holster & magazine carrier though. Anyone got any suggestions? I don't plan to carry this a lot but I will probably want to from time to time.

I bought an older Colt off Gunbroker this evening by phone; now comes the wait. There's a cure though! Have several on the way at any given time; ask me how I know... Wasn't it me that told the F'Burg members that I'm not buying any new guns for awhile?

I went to the small Dalton show today and came home with hundreds of bullets to load. I guess that unspent gun $ had to go somewhere before it burned a hole in my pocket

Thanks Jeff,
I hope it is one that I can pass down to my boy when the time comes.

Yeah, he'll have a hard time choosing between it and that KelTec...

You getting a G.I. or Commander?

I am sure it will be a difficult choice. :)

I opted for the G.I. though now I'm almost wondering if I should have got the commander. I'm not really planning on using it for carry although I guess that could change in the future. If I decide I want the commander I can wait till the next time I'm on a crazy overtime job & splurge for one although I'm really thinking my next purchase should be an evil black rifle of some sort. Being new to this whole 1911 thing I have a lot to learn I'm sure.

Picked it up today. Didn't get the chance to do much else though. I had to go watch my youngest girls swimming lesson. Then went & visited my wifes Aunt so all the kids could swim. I did get to clean it after we got home & took a couple of cell phone pics but that was it.

Finally got to shoot the SR1911 Monday evening. I just ran 50 rounds of Sellier & Bellot ball through it but everything worked fine. I just plinked around for a while but I think I am going to like this pistol. I need to pick up some more ammo & get a decent holster for it. I like it.
