Weekend Snag Hopefully A T678W (Ruger Verifys As T678W)

Picked this up yesterday. Note to Ruger to see if shipped as T678W. RENE says it falls in Ser# group and exact discription. We will see...

nice one, and very good picture, shows the "updated" ( later) A-100 frame configuration, the right bottom panel screw is "reversed" and as shown can be seen as closer to the bottom of the frame, also the 'single' eagle medallion ,is now on the RIGHT side also.....

Got the email from Ruger they say it shipped 9/72 as a T678W... Happy on this end :D My estimate on condition is solid 98%. Now for another box search.

Ah, an 11- prefix gun eh? I see it is a scarce transition of sorts with the black eagle medallion on an A100 frame. Those are pretty tough to find, let alone a "W" model.

The box for that one should still be the two piece yellow and red type with only "TARGET PISTOL" marked on the end. Ruger didn't have a T678 printed two-piece box.
And yes, the sleeve would have the T678W stamp.

There probably aren't too many boxed Mark I's with walnut grips anymore. The thumbrest was a little "tough" on the box lid/bottom as the thickness with grips was thicker than the two-piece cardboard.

Minor thread pirating follows . . .

Nice gun, made me dig mine out just to check it over. Mine is a Mark I T678 with walnut panels, thumb rest on left panel, silverbird medallion on right panel, A-100 grip frame . . . serial 13-39XXX. Has the tapered bolt stop pin.

I have never "called it in". Am I safe in assuming it will NOT letter as a "W" gun? The RENE Reference would seem to confirm this assumption.

Well the best way would be to call or email Ruger. I never gave it much thought until I read in RENE it was in the serial number group. There are a lot of walnut target gripped ones, but won't letter from Ruger as shipped as a T678W. Does it have a Liberty marking? If it has tapperd bolt stop and not a Liberty, may be one of 3000 of that varity.

I'm aware of the RENE data, but there are occasional deviations.

I usually don't "call a gun in" unless it's of considerable interest. Don't like to wear out my welcome with the ladies and abuse a free service.

Mine likely falls into the group you mentioned, from 13-15884 thru 19-5106X. It is not "Liberty" marked.

I have the box for it . . . somewhere . . . deep in the pile . . .
