A Single Six in the 262 pre-fix made from Ruger or as a distributor special that had a blued frame and barrel and a chromed or high polish grip frame and ERH?
Asking because a walk-in at my local LGS has one that he says was made that way from Ruger. I told him I doubted it but wanted to make sure.
Chet? What say you?

I have to believe that question was asked just to make the point about using acronyms.
Actually I didn't know what he was speaking of so I looked up "ERH on revolvers" (note all caps) and found nothing, then I went with simply ERH (all caps) and found "Wells Fargo Advantage Utilities and High Income Fund (ERH)". Somehow I figured that wasn't what the OP was speaking of.

To the purpose of your thread:

I'm more interested in how these guys come to the conclusion that these oddities came from Ruger like they are. Did this guy happen to offer what he thought passed as logic to convince him?

Chet says not factory. At least there's no mention in his book about such a 'beast'. And I agree with him. By the way, were the parts chromed or high polished?

After further research, the grip panels were removed and the frame is a XR3-RED and appears to be chromed. The "ERH" wasn't removed or closely inspected but believe to be the same. The owner is not a knowledgeable gun person, just the average Joe on the street, and purchased the firearm because he liked the looks and was told by seller it was 'factory'. The current owner was simply doing research on what he had purchased and I told him that in my opinion the configuration was not factory but could have been done through one of the many custom gunsmith shops as it was well fitted and finished. I was seeking confirmation of what I thought he had and was not in a place to consult any Ruger specific gun references.

Hondo, Thank you for your comments...

A company called sports inc. about twenty years ago offered a two tone single six. I would have to check, Chad 15 would certainly know the answer though. Hope he chimes in. thanks Bob

That person is probably talking about the RB-22WS Bisley .22 with rollmarked cylinder and stainless steel grip frame. That model is known between 261-03585 and 262-15077.
The ejector housing on that was blued aluminum though, and the grip frame was Ruger's standard "satin" finish stainless, not high polish or chromed.

Not factory and probably not chromed either. More likely the parts are just polished.

My thoughts too. It's been done before.
Yup, done lots of times just by polishing to bare metal the aluminum parts (grip frame and ERH) put em on a buffing wheel and they will shine up real nice and some folks call them "Customs". If ya like two-toned Blackhawks go for it, but don't claim they are factory originals. Just not my thing.
