Warnings on new firearms

Years ago firearm manufacturers started engraving frames and barrels with warnings about "read the maual first"
Caution, danger!
Then Smith & Wesson put the "Hillary Hole" in the frame so you could lock the action, making the gun safe, and usless.
The new Colts have a QR code permanently etched into the frame.
Can you imagine buying a new car and permanently engraved on the dashboard in large letters, "please read the owners manual before driving".
Go to McDonalds, order a coffee. " Caution. Hot. May cause burns"

Yes. But the cure is simple. Do away with lawsuits for frivolous things. That's what led to the current state of affairs.

I remember when Taurus came out with the "Raging Bull" revolver.
Nice revolver, but I don't need Raging Bull in large letters engraved on the barrel.
Never quite understood why Taurus had to engrave this huge billboard on the barrel. No one needs to know what model revolver I have at the range.

I think that Pythons scream "Python" on the barrel.

I'm pretty sure if you have a Taurus Raging Bull at the range, people will know what gun it is.

You can always go custom if you want.

But yes, it does annoy me with the "read owner's manual first." on the side of the barrel. In fact, as far as custom guns go, I do remember seeing some custom gunsmiths who have on their website they will not remove that warning label.

Yes the Python has Python written on the barrel but its small discreet. You can't really see it unless you are really close to it.
You have a stainless Raging Bull and it's written in HUGE script. Totally unnecessary.

Sure, but the bow tie isn't two feet long by one foot high. Most car manufacturers logos are pretty discreet.

The Python logo is not as large or obvious. You have to zoom in to see it clearly.

I buy them to shoot, not as works of art.

That being said, I get where collectors may not like a bunch of words on the side.

If the "Raging Bull" logo were a lot smaller, more discreet, like a Python, I think it would sell better. That's just me. Others may like large logos.

Not really a Taurus fan and also not a fan of "Raging" on any gun I own. I would never carry a gun with a dangerous sounding name.

That one thing I like about my Tisas 1911. A small 1911A1 Service Model on one side of the slide and nothing on the other. A very small made in Turkey on the dust cover.
I dislike the garish billboards.
Particularly the “Grip Zone” on certain vintage XD Springfields.
If you need them to tell you where to grip a handgun, you should not own one, or for that matter, be allowed to hold one.

Every truck I’ve owned since 85 has had a few of those instructions on the visor. Warnings about off road use, seatbelts, etc.
I’ve got to agree about the permanent warnings, disfiguring a brand new gun seems unnecessary.

Liability issues and insurance companies have resulted in some weapons having absolutely horrific trigger pulls. Which of course can be rectified with a spring kit or aftermarket trigger, or both.

Exactly this !...simple...like most European countries, 'Loser"pays All costs...this one change would drastically reduce suits, But the lawyers lobbies are too strong and would never consent

I would bet that unlike many of the comments here, many actually like the model of the gun permanently engraved on the barrel for all to see. I still see cars with the make of the vehicle in big decal letters on the rear window. At first I thought that it was for drivers who forgot what car they were driving, but then realized it was drivers who wanted to show the rest of us what brand they were loyally supporting. There are likely gun owners who when at the range are terrified that their expensive Colt Python might be mistaken for some low cost revolver by other shooters. Having the word "Python" clearly visible makes sure that there is no misunderstanding about their gun.

It annoyed me enough to take a 4 inch grinder and remove that from the barrel of an original Vaquero in SS. I was pissed off by it, offended. It was done neatly enough that the current owner can have his name engraved in the spot or some other message. "Front Towards Enemy" might have meaning here. .
