Wanting No More Rad!

I've received 19 of 39 radiation treatments for prostate cancer and it's wreaking havoc with the voiding/elimination processes. Urinary frequency and urgency along with incomplete emptying is a growing problem(ie:can I make it to the next place in time).

I don't want to go through this again should cancer reappear somewhere. Yeah,I'm a pain wimp I guess. :lol:

I'll be 70 in September,so I'm old but not yet decrepit.

I don't blame you. I'm very leary of radiation treatments. A friend of mine his his prostate cancer treated with the seeds and then radiation. He ended up being burned badly and is now looking at surgery to have his plumbing rerouted. What a bad deal. Not sure of your situation, but I would say be careful.

Has nothing to do with being a "wimp". Pain is pain and some have less pain tolerance than others.

I went through 49 radiation treatments several years ago for prostrate cancer. Have been cancer free since then. However...........

A few months ago I passed blood, like a little urine in the blood type of deal. The Urologist did a scope (yep, passed a little camera right up through there, not too bad other than the thought, and you're lying there for all the world to see). The pictures showed cancers in my bladder. Aha! suferficial non invasive bladder cancer, exclaimed the doctor, a little too gleefully in my estimation. This is the result of the radiation. Just scrape them out and waddle on your merry way.

This is an after effect of the radiation, but really there is no pain, and I'm as normal as I get. Just pay attention to your doctor and get used to lying there exposed. I've been down that trail, and looking back, wasn't too bad.

Keep your chin up, Graygun. My Dad had 30 radiation treatments back in the mid 80s. He took them on his lunch hour and never missed work except for his surgery. He just passed last year at 87.

I had a treatment for an enlarged prostrate (BPH) called 'cooled thermal therapy' and it was no fun either. It took about 6 weeks to get back to normal.

Not a wimp Grey. I Understand... My dad fought the fight of prostate cancer and bought 3+ years with treatments... Do what you think you have to do and stand tall...

Hang in there graygun! You are no WIMP my friend! The medical field has tortures (treatments) that if done right kills the cancer before the patient! Good luck! Prayers sent.
