I don't roll them. I go to a coin machine in the grocery store. Sometimes it costs me a little but it's fine with me.

My credit union processes them for free, i go there 2 or 3 times a year, maybe 4. I have a large pewter "just a thimble-full ! " pint beaker that looks like an oversized thimble, i put change in, but i take it to cash-in in an old drawstring bank bag, 50- 80$ at a time. Sometimes the cup overflows by the time i gets to the bag

The problem is that cash is inconvenient for many things.
When I was young, having $100 in your wallet meant that you could take on the world. A fill up in my 1971 gas hog was $10. Movies and a trip to the diner with your date was another $10.
Now a fill up is $80, movies will run you $30, and the diner will be another $30. Gotta hit the ATM.
It just takes too much cash to live day to day.

I have a large, full jar, of assorted coins plus a second jar that is now about half full. My bank no longer accepts loose change but hands me as many paper rolls as I want and will accept rolled coins. I could use the change machine at the supermarket, but it frosts me to pay 11% just for the machine to count the value of the coins. So I will keep putting my loose change into that second jar for now.
Many decades ago I did the same thing, i.e., putting my change daily into a plastic bottle. When it was full I brought it to the bank and had almost $300 in folding money handed back to me. In those days that $300 paid for a family short vacation for my wife and I and our four kids. It truly felt like "found money" even it was mine all that time it was building up.

I once cashed in a five gallon bucket of pennies. Might have been the shorter drywall size but regardless was $125.

Now my change goes into a 5 gallon water cooler bottle. I routinely cull the quarters and get $30-$50 each time. I also look at every coin that goes into that bottle. Occasionally, errors and rare coins show up.

Actually the process is to look at my change each day and do the culling before putting it into a half gallon container before separating the quarters into one jar and putting the remainder into the water bottle. If a bucket of pennies is $125 then a bucket of quarters is close to 3 grand.
I just wish I could leave them alone long enough to fill a bucket.

If it takes one second to pick up a penny, that's $36 an hour, tax free.
I have probably a dozen quart mason jars filled with nickels, dimes and quarters. Pennies go into an old metal coffee cup and when it's full I roll them and put them away. I'm now putting the change in my pocket at the end of the day (after checking for "wheaties" or old collectible coins) into a 18" or so tall plastic replica of a Coke bottle and it will someday go to one of the grandkids. Half dollars, silver dollars are also put away with my coin collection and US Mint Proof and Uncirculated sets. Had a guy pay me for some gun work in the new dollar coins ($65 worth) but I don't know what I want to do with them yet so they're in a small Crown Royal bag.
yeah... but the chiropractor I would need after bending over that much charges a hell of a lot more...
