What if you don't have any children?..........
That's what the dogs are for.
And if you live in an apartment? Or in an area like mine that sees variable winds often?
And that plastic parachute? Is it recyclable? What an extreme waste of materials.

Right now drone delivery is only practical for emergency supplies in remote places. Amazon tried it in New Zealand I think and it was too problematic and costly to be practical. Maybe in the future but not for a while. Besides who needs it when many stores have free or almost free delivery.
I thought I read this summer they were going to try a few test markets with drone deliveries.
The problems become airports. There are two regional airports close to my house, so I doubt it will ever happen here.
But I seriously did read something this summer in the news. Some small town in Texas was going to get drone deliveries.
I haven't looked but doubt they're doing a mini-chute from fixed wing RC aircraft.
There's a big Amazon hub or distribution center (or whatever the proper word for it is) in town here and every once in a while I see them out with their little "robot" carts testing them in some of the neighborhoods around here. I haven't seen any drones yet. The little "robot" things look like little 6-wheeled tanks and the ones I've seen seem to crawl along at about 3 mph with someone following them with either some type of clipboard, radio controler, or tablet computer. Doesn't look very efficient to me, of course, I'm sure it's just experimental at this point but it looks like it's got a ways to go.
Next time I need hot dog buns I might try it, wonder if it work on a jug of sweet tea?

Being licensed by the FAA to fly unmanned aircraft (Drones) I just find it hard to believe this will actually ever happen. Here is one of the rules I have to go by when flying commercially ... the drone must always be in sight of either myself or one of my crew.
I thought the .gov shut down drone deliveries. I remember a story about drone deliveries to ice fishermen from a local party store a couple years back that got shut down. Surprisingly the reason wasn’t the beer that was getting delivered either.

It'll be a while before the Walmart here does this. It's the only one in the county and the largest retailer of beer as well ... and they deliver in person same day on in stock items although I rarely use it. Amazon delivers same day usually and next day almost always here so I use that or go to the store in person.
As far as I know, Blume is correct. The guy we do custom farming for has a drone spray rig and has to move his observation platform to each field or different locations in uneven(hilly) fields if there's a tree line or brushy ditch line between fields or even a ridgeline.
