I got it yesterday...it's not the original issue 58, it's a civilian semi-auto version with shortened barrel, thoug built out of original unused parts.
Semi-auto 58s are very popular here in CZ lately, as they are really low-priced due to army surplus parts sales...
Here with shortened mag...(easier for concealed carry if needed - though I don't plan to carry it)

My brother purchased a 58 about a year ago. Had to special order and wait forever. Standard barrel and non collapsible stock on his, but that is a fine functioning and really solid firearm. He's debating selling it and I'd buy it if I had the dollars.

The short barrel and folding stock are nice touches! Great looking piece.

Glad you like it...let me know if you buy that one and need some parts or accessories for it. They are all over the place as our country is where this gun was born.
I surely can't ship you any of the main parts, but no problem getting you stocks (folding or fixed), handguards, grips, springs, bayonets...some modernized plactic stock parts are available as well, but I bet those can be easily bought online.

I like the gas block / front sight! I use that same bag and love it. (I don't conceal with it but it looks like it'll conceal your VZ nicely.)

Welding the front sight on there is sort of "signature" of the gunsmith that builds these shorties. I like it too. The only minus is that you lose the bayonet plug with this, but no big deal...

They are available here - not sure how easily available in the USA, though I know people have them there, so I guess there is a way to get them. Look for "CZ 858 Tactical" as that's what these semi-auto versions for civilian market are called.
This one I have is a specially modified version with shortened barrel and modified front sight, not made by CZ factory and I'm not sure if these are exported - they are made of unused army surlpus parts by a single gunsmith here in Czech rep.

Interestingly, in this country a rifle barrel shorter than 16" (407mm) is illegal unless accompanied by the same paperwork as a full auto.

Your 10" barrel must bark pretty loud.

Yes, I know you have this law about short barrels. Our law is different - all semi-auto rifles (and semiauto shotguns with more than 3-shot capacity), as well as some extra short rifles and shotguns are in the same category as handguns - they all require both gun license and a special buy permission from the police for every single piece you want to get. Other than that, there are no other restrictions about them (you can even carry them concealed if you want to, just like a handgun).

Rifles and shotguns of more normal lengths with manual repeating (as well as single shot, double barrel and such) only require gun license to buy.

As for the barking - not that bad, though I always wear ear protection, anyway...
