Vulcan .44 mag pump

Universal offered a pump-action conversion of the M1 carbine in .44mag---it's in a 1969 Shooter's Bible. Anyone see/shoot one of these? Were there function problems, or was it just too ugly to sell?

Friend of mine had one. It was horrible to shoot pump action wasn't very smooth and the trigger godawfull.

I like the idea of a M1 carbine in 44 mag. taking something semi auto and turning into pump action is a really stupid idea, kind of a step backwards, who wants to pump when you could just pull the trigger? if I want pump action I'll shoot a shotgun, but even with shotguns I'd rather shoot a semi auto, why create work where it can be done automatically makes no sense to me. :?

By converting the action to a manual pump, there's no need for extensive modifications to ensure reliable semi-auto operation and feeding. Much easier to achieve reliable operation, and no worry about load sensitivity. You may not like a pump-action rifle, but I love my Remington Model 12/121 rifles. I'd love to have something like it in .45acp and/or 9mm.

Remington semi auto rifles were known to beat them selves to death. Makes a lot of sense to convert them to pump. I believe they were actually modified pump guns to begin with. Ed

I'm not too old, but I've noticed the older I get the less I care for overly complicated guns. I love single shot rifles and single and double barrel shotguns. Single action handguns are more fun to me than any semi. I had a Remington 760 30-06 that I ended up selling. It just felt too clunky and cumbersome to me. A bolt action rifle is all the more intricate I need to get - as long as it feeds and shoots reliably

I feel sorry for ya...

I got a model 1200 pump but it's to slow for bird hunting my Winchester the semi auto can put out three shots so fast it sounds like one boom, I have often gone home with a full bag when the pumpers go home empty handed.
