Me and the Misses went for another Cumberland adventure yesterday - this time completing the 9 mile Virgin Falls hike that we ran out of time on last week. Another very unique falls - bursts out of a cave, flows about 30 feet, drops 110 feet, then disappears again into a pit at the bottom. Kind of disorienting seeing such a huge volume of water appear and then disappear so abruptly - your mind is so accustomed to associating waterfalls with streams or rivers. After the falls hiked down to the Caney Fork at the bottom of the gulf for lunch, then made the long uphill pull back.
Lots of gorgeous fall scenery on the hike. I put together a slideshow on Photobucket for those interested (so as not to hog the bandwidth here)
